Portland, Ore. – October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and Learning.com has launched a cyberbullying prevention campaign to stand in solidarity with students against cyberbullying. With national data reports showing cyberbullying on the rise, especially in public schools, the digital literacy leader has created a cyberbullying prevention toolkit for educators to download and help students and parents do their part in promoting online safety and good digital citizen skills. Click here to download a complimentary toolkit.
Learning.com’s special toolkit offers digital materials that help bridge the gap between school and home to help keep students safe online. Resources in the kit are K-8 age-appropriate and include online safety lesson plans, a home and school checklist, a cyberbullying prevention guide, a classroom student pledge poster, Be Kind Online stickers, and a shareable infographic to help teachers, students, and parents do their part in preventing cyberbullying.
“It has been reported that 70 percent of K-12 students have witnessed cyberbullying take place online and nearly 43 percent have been bullied online. What’s clear is, cyberbullying is taking place in the spaces where students work and live today,” said Keith Oelrich, CEO of Learning.com. “Our hope is to draw public awareness and education around the need for cyberbullying prevention by providing helpful resources and tools to empower teachers, students, and parents.”
Educators and administrators requiring more support putting a cyber-safety plan together for their school or district can also find the help they need. Learning.com offers a complete online safety curriculum that provides lesson plans and activities, reporting on district E-rate compliance, and seamless integration with Google Classroom and other widely used learning platforms.
