California District Prepares Students for Next Generation Assessments
Faced with the need to bring their diverse socioeconomic student body’s technology skills in line with California’s Common Core State Standards, Placentia-Yorba Linda USD knew they needed an up-to-date technology curriculum that would allow students to work at their own pace. The district had been using a curriculum that was eight years old, and at first considered rewriting it themselves. After realizing the burden of constantly updating their own curriculum, the administrators turned to Learning.com’s EasyTech.
EasyTech’s platform-agnostic program and self-paced lessons helped teach students essential skills like keyboarding and appropriate use of technology. The curriculum design team built progression lessons using Learning.com’s custom sequencing tool. Administrators used the option to create generic logins to increase parental engagement. As of January 2015, students at Placentia-Yorba Linda had completed 16 lessons for the school year, and were on track with the district’s expectations for skills growth.
“We especially liked the prescriptive keyboarding lessons that were built in, as well as the activities illustrating the appropriate use of technology. EasyTech had everything we wanted.”
