New York Students Acquire Tech Skills During Everyday Instruction

When New York State required assessments of eighth grade students’ grasp of cyberbullying and internet safety, New Rochelle City School District brought in TechLiteracy Assessments from Along with testing their eighth graders, administrators began to evaluate fifth graders in order to identify the knowledge gaps that would need to be filled over the following three years.

To fill those gaps, New Rochelle chose’s EasyTech curriculum, which allowed them to build a robust technology program that has closed skills gaps and expanded digital literacy to prepare students for online assessments. Administrators have seen a direct correlation between EasyTech instruction and students’ increased scores in state exams.

“There’s a different thought and creation process from the brain to the keyboard, as opposed to writing on paper. Students need more opportunities for electronic writing to practice these skills and for college and career readiness.”
