Teachers weigh in: fun and prescriptive are keys to keyboarding

New EasyTech Keyboarding by Learning.com adapts curriculum based on student performance

Portland, OR – July 20, 2010
Teachers are frustrated by the glut of free keyboarding programs that are not designed for the way they teach and often cannot adapt to student progress. They see keyboarding as a critical 21st century skill that needs to be taught in a fun, relevant, individualized learning environment. Today Learning.com announces EasyTech Keyboarding, a solution that adapts lessons to students’ touch typing skill progress.

“We didn’t want to add just another keyboarding program to the market – we wanted a keyboarding program designed by teachers, built by Learning.com,” says Doug Gastich, Director of Content Development at Learning.com. “EasyTech Keyboarding leverages our Sky platform to bring interactive, adaptable and individualized instruction targeted at third through eighth graders.”

EasyTech Keyboarding’s advanced prescriptive technology adapts immediately to students’ progress and automatically builds custom exercises that focus students’ learning and progression. EasyTech Keyboarding can be used along with teachers’ own hands-on instruction and in class or computer labs with varied student pacing.

“I am impressed. I love the prescription aspect of it and I think teachers will, too. There is a lot of depth to this program that we don't have with our current program,” says one of the first elementary school teachers to review the solution.

The full keyboarding curriculum is included in EasyTech, or may be purchased separately. Current EasyTech customers will receive the new curriculum as part of their EasyTech subscription. EasyTech is a K-8 technology literacy solution that provides interactive, self-paced instruction in critical technology skills. Comprehensive, scoped and sequenced lessons and activities incorporate technology skills development into math, science, language arts and social studies instruction.
