Birds
What’s all that chirping? Celebrate spring by learning about the migrating, tweeting, flying class of animals called Aves. Each of these activities meets a variety of state and national standards for technology and core subject areas.
Grades K-2
As a class, discuss how birds are different from and similar to other animals. Then have students use visual mapping software to create a visual map that shows at least five characteristics of birds, and shows how those traits overlap or not with other classes of animals.

Grades 3-5
Have students use the Web to research birds and birding, or bird watching. Then have them use Word Processing software to create a Birding Newsletter that includes at least three articles, one picture and one graph or diagram. The newsletter articles should incorporate information about birds (such as anatomy, habits, and migration) with tips on birding.
