Phillipsburg School District

Digital Literacy is Just a Quick Click Away for N.J. Students

Faced with students of varying levels of technical proficiency, Phillipsburg School District needed a digital literacy curriculum that would account for that disparity – and that would also be aligned with the ISTE Standards for Students and support Common Core. Learning.com’s EasyTech provided a self-paced, interactive curriculum that teaches students critical technology skills in the context of core curriculum and real-world challenges.

When first implemented, the district only made EasyTech available in individual classrooms. Limited access and varying degrees of teacher use meant that the first wave of third graders completed only 55% of the year’s assigned lessons. After the district switched to providing EasyTech through a comprehensive media literacy program overseen by media specialists, students are on target to complete the whole program with 93% accuracy.

“I was really impressed with their system, the quality of lessons and the fact that the lessons develop the 21st century skills outlined by the ISTE Standards-S as well as the Common Core Anchor Standards.”
