Traditionally, Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-step approach to providing services and early interventions to struggling learners. RTI uses screening and benchmarks to identify needs and then provides academic and behavioral supports early in a student’s academic experience.

RTI helps schools focus on high quality, early interventions while monitoring student progress. The information gained from an RTI process is used by school personnel and parents to determine the educational needs of the child and continually adapt instruction to meet those needs.
