Vice President of Products and Services

Position Summary
The VP Products and Services will have ultimate responsibility for creating and maintaining all aspects of the Learning.com products and services for teachers, students, parents, administrators and other users. A member of the executive management team, the VP Products and Services will create and own a multi-year strategy for producing and managing products and services that address known customer needs, and which yield deeper, more mission-critical relationships between the company and its customers and users. The VP Products and Services reports to Learning.com’s President and COO.

Responsibilities

  • Build, communicate and champion a products and services strategy that helps the company achieve its corporate objectives
  • Manage the product, platform and services teams to success. Structure these groups to maximize their capacity and productivity
  • Insure that the entire company is educated about the user and customers strategies associated with the company's products and services, and can articulate the primary value of Learning.com's products and services in the context of the user experience we provide.
  • Own the definition of sellable products, including content, assessment, and services products. This responsibility includes working with sales and marketing to determine packaging, pricing, positioning, and placement of the products for sale to teachers, parents, schools, districts and state education departments.
  • Establish and communicate metrics of success for specific user behaviors and usage of products and services, revise the definition of these metrics over time as needed, and operate to maximize the company's performance against these metrics.
  • Help the product teams to define multi-year product strategies which include a dynamic approach to features, content, and user behaviors within each product definition. Work with product leads to articulate requirements to the technology and content development teams.
  • Spend significant time in the field observing usage of the company's products and services, and expect members of the Products and Services team to do the same. Establish a methodology for capturing and promulgating key observations to the rest of the company.
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to maximize new business, renewal and services revenues.
  • Establish and grow various online communities of users to increase loyalty and habitual usage
  • Own the company’s research agenda
  • Drive revenue growth by creating deeper, more mission-critical relationships between the company and its customers and users
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct management responsibilities of the director of professional and customer services and the product management team.

Requirements

  • BS in related field (Computer Science, Marketing, Engineering)
  • MBA or equivalent strongly encouraged
  • Experience in educational technology preferred
  • 5+ years experience in senior management with significant supervisory and P&L responsibility
  • 5+ years experience in product design, user interface development, online community management, or other related “user experience” areas
  • Strong skills in analytics, statistics, behavioral psychology and/or other related fields
  • Strong positive management skills
