Director of Marketing

We are looking for an experienced marketing professional to help accelerate our growth by creating and implementing a marketing strategy which capitalizes on our brand and leadership role in web based curriculum delivery. In addition this role provides a unique opportunity to drive expanded sales channel implementation through e-commerce efforts as we extend into direct to teacher sales. You will be responsible for managing and driving CRM strategies, online marketing communications, online advertising and development of strategic online partnerships. This individual will leverage their business and technical savvy to create a big-picture vision and successfully drive to bring that vision to life.

The ideal candidate will possess K-12 and software industry experience, be a strong strategic thinker and an outstanding communicator and implementer. Responsibilities

  • Work with executive management to lead the development of our company marketing strategy. Provide company leadership with regular updates on progress towards attainment of strategic goals.
  • Design, implement, and manage the annual marketing plan for the company.
  • This position will assume responsibility for the overall marketing budget and e-commerce P&L.
  • Interact with sales management to develop, implement and manage programs to meet established company goals.
  • Ensure the integration of ecommerce marketing with overall marketing communications, product plans and business objectives.
  • Develop ROI tracking of all marketing investments. Creation of detailed reporting and analysis surrounding key customer and marketing metrics. Identify trends, opportunities/risks, understand variances to forecast and present findings in clear report or presentation format.
  • Develop website, SEO optimization, email, newsletter, and CRM strategy and tactics to better engage customers and prospects via the internet. Develop and maintain a content strategy that will engage users both on the learning.com site and off the learning.com site in communities, social networks and other internet touch points.
  • Oversee new product launch activities, effectively utilizing in-house and partner resources for maximum market penetration and sales ramp-up.
  • Facilitate regular business meetings to review strategy, programs, and results — make recommendations for adjustments to strategic plan or individual tactics.
  • Lead selection process and management of external agencies and service providers as required implementing marketing programs and tactics.
  • Create an overall corporate communication strategy including appropriate public relations and employee communications plans.
  • Manages risks, allocates resources, sets priorities and coaches marketing team members to reach their goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years overall marketing experience with minimum of 4 years marketing management experience.
  • Established ability to drive both top line revenue and bottom line profit.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated excellence in online marketing with strong understanding of web usability and site design, online chat forums, and experience with A/B testing methodology for optimizing conversion and expertise in SEO.
  • Demonstrated trade show experience required.
  • MBA is a plus.
  • Creative — Good at developing promotional ideas and concepts.
  • Team/consensus builder with "infectious enthusiasm"
  • Position requires the ability to travel (up to 30%).
