Position Summary
The Agile Business Analyst will work with the Development team, Project Managers, Product Managers, and Operations during the development life cycle of applications and systems. Responsibilities will include gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements. As an Agile Business Analyst you will create user stories, functional specifications, system interaction diagrams, and data modeling artifacts. You will be responsible for system overview and architecture documentation from a user’s perspective.
A candidate for this position should be passionate about the potential of web applications for K-8 education, use web applications regularly, and care about their usability and the principles of good UI design. Ideally, you would also have experience working with mockups and/or prototypes (either paper, HTML, or functional).
Responsibilities
Work with departmental stakeholders to ensure complete requirements are gathered for new development projects
Gather competitive and market data to inform product strategy
Analyzing competitors and customer feedback for unsatisfied user needs
Develop and maintain functional requirements for new development projects
Writing and editing technical documentation for development projects
Helping brainstorm new web application features
Defining requirements and writing specifications for those features
Working with the engineering team to set development priorities
Reviewing releases to ensure quality and consistency
Conducting usability/acceptance tests to verify success
Copy writing (Knowledge base, Newsletter etc)
Community management (Forum, Team Blog, Tweeting, etc)
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management or Marketing or a related degree or equivalent experience
Experience working in a software development group.
Experience with agile software methodologies.
Familiarity with web application architecture and infrastructure.
Familiarity with the conventions of current web applications such as Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, and YouTube, as well as emerging trends in their design
Excellent data analysis skills and strong organization and project management skills (formal or otherwise)
Excellent interpersonal, written and presentation communication skills; experience with technical writing.
Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make decisions and solve problems independently.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with mockups and/or prototypes (either paper, HTML, or functional).
