Learning.com’s Aha!Math Named as Finalist for SIIA CODiE AwardThe Web-delivered supplemental math curriculum helps teachers build K-5 students’ mathematical reasoning skills.
This highly competitive award honors outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital information and education technology industries. Aha!Math, released by Learning.com in 2007, is nominated in the “Best Online Instructional Solution” category. Aha!Math incorporates instruction, lessons and games with proven instructional strategies and multiple concept models that support students to build math fluency and their conceptual and procedural math knowledge. Its flexible instruction model allows for whole class, small group, and individual use as directed by the class teacher. Because Aha!Math embeds instruction into its content, it serves as far more than a practice tool for students. Its engaging, research-based instructional model and content support students to understand the connections between math concepts. It is aligned to state math standards and built on the NCTM Curriculum Focal Points. “We’ve taken our proven expertise in Web-delivered instruction and built on that knowledge to create this effective and engaging supplemental math curriculum,” says Bill Kelly, Learning.com CEO. “We know teachers are the best at conveying direct instruction to students. Aha!Math is designed to enhance that instruction with effective online lessons and activities, targeting the major concepts to develop strong foundational math skills.” SIIA, which will name the CODiE winners in May, is the principal trade association for the software and digital content industry. SIIA officials noted this year’s competition drew a record number of entrants, making the awards even more competitive. "Competition is tough this year and that makes selection as a CODiE finalist a real achievement," said Ken Wash, SIIA president. "All the companies on this year’s list should feel justifiably proud of their recognition." For a list of all finalists, visit www.siia.net/codies/2008/finalists.asp About Learning.com |
